About Us

Dinner At Your Door (a Meals On Wheels program) was begun in 1972 by a group of volunteers from area churches.  Our mission was to prepare hot, nutritious meals for the elderly and homebound in the surrounding communities.   Thirty-nine years later, Dinner At Your Door is still a viable and affordable option for a growing population in need, thanks to the ongoing efforts of our volunteers. 

There are about 40 Meals On Wheels programs in the greater Minneapolis and St. Paul areas.   These 40 programs serve nearly one million meals a year.  As many of our aging seniors become less mobile, they find it increasingly difficult to get proper nutrition.  Many are homebound, live alone and have failing health.  Our goal is to enable them to live independently as long as possible. 

Right now, the St. Louis Park and Hopkins Meals-On-Wheels program serve around 80 clients per day.  Typically, the volunteer driver from churches or businesses deliver meals once a month.  Drivers pick up the meals at Prince of Peace Church around 11:00 A.M, Monday through Friday.   Each of the  routes delivers between 6-10 meals and takes about forty-five minutes to one hour.
